Privacy Notice

This notice explains how D.E.A.N.S Repairs uses customer information and handles devices entrusted to the workshop.

Who handles your information

D.E.A.N.S Repairs, run by Dean at 168 Hall Street, Offerton, Stockport, SK1 4JG, is responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy questions or requests, email repairs@deansrepairs.co.uk or call 07857 146564.

Enquiries and bookings

When you contact us or book a drop-off, we collect your name, email address, telephone number, subject, device and fault details, and your chosen date and time where applicable. We use these to answer you, arrange diagnosis and repairs, give updates and deal with warranty queries. Please do not include passwords, payment card details or unnecessary sensitive information in a form.

Why we use it

We use information needed to take steps at your request before a repair agreement and to carry out that agreement. Our legitimate interests include responding to general enquiries, keeping appropriate repair and warranty records, preventing misuse and resolving disputes. Where accounting or other legal requirements apply, we keep the required information to meet those obligations. The terms checkbox records your repair agreement; it is not permission for marketing. The theme sends service messages, not marketing emails.

Where enquiry and repair records are kept

Website submissions are saved as private repair enquiries in WordPress, accessible to authorised workshop administrators. A notification is emailed to repairs@deansrepairs.co.uk and an acknowledgement is sent to you. We also record the terms version, a copy of the terms and the time you agreed. Repair records may include the agreed work, inspection findings, communications, charges and warranty history. Email copies and provider backups are separate from the WordPress record.

Customer devices and files

We access device functions, files or accounts only as needed for the diagnosis, testing or repair you have agreed to. Tell Dean if a device contains sensitive material or if particular areas must not be accessed. Discuss any access credentials privately with Dean rather than entering them into website forms. Back up important data before handing over a device where possible. We will seek your approval before work that is expected to erase data, such as a reset or operating-system reinstall. Faults and repair work can still cause data loss; recovery cannot be guaranteed. Device information is not used for marketing.

Service providers and sharing

Our website is hosted with Krystal. Hosting, email and backup providers process information to operate these services. Information may also be shared where necessary with a service provider you have agreed to use, to meet a legal obligation or to handle a legal claim. We do not sell enquiry information. Provider processing locations and any international transfer safeguards depend on the services in use; contact Dean for details of the providers handling your request. Third-party sites linked from this website apply their own privacy notices.

How long records are kept

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to answer an enquiry, complete the repair, support the warranty, meet applicable accounting requirements or deal with a dispute. The appropriate period depends on the record and whether a legal requirement or unresolved issue applies. We review records and delete or anonymise information that is no longer needed. The theme does not automatically delete enquiries or email copies: deletion must be managed by the workshop, and backup copies follow the relevant provider retention cycle. You can ask Dean about the retention period applying to your record.

Website security, cookies and external content

The enquiry form uses a short-lived, hashed network identifier to limit repeated submissions; it expires after 15 minutes without a further accepted submission. Hosting security and access logs may contain IP addresses and request details. WordPress and installed services may use cookies, including administrator login cookies. YouTube thumbnail images make a request to YouTube when displayed; playing a video loads an embedded YouTube player. Google, Trustpilot, WhatsApp and other external links connect to those providers when opened. Additional plugins or checkout services may collect information under their own notices.

Repair assistant and controller tools

The built-in repair assistant uses repair information in this website. Its conversation stays in the current page memory and is not sent to Dean or an external AI service. Submit an enquiry separately if you want Dean to receive your details. Controller input is read in your browser. Saved calibration profiles and tool preferences may use local browser storage; temporary report drafts and dismissed notices may use session storage. A report is sent to the workshop only if you submit it in a form. Hardware calibration changes a supported controller only when you choose the relevant calibration action. Clear site storage through your browser settings to remove stored browser data. Assistant suggestions do not decide whether a repair will be accepted; Dean assesses the device.

Your rights and contacting us

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request a portable copy. These rights are not absolute; for example, some records may need to be retained by law. Where processing genuinely relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent. We may need to confirm your identity before releasing information. Email repairs@deansrepairs.co.uk with your request. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how your information is handled.
